In front of a full house at the famed Kombank Hall in Belgrade, the long-awaited documentary “The Weight of Chains 3” finally had its Serbian premiere. “Riveting”, “Emotionally charged and inspiring”, and “Malagurski’s best film” were just some of the comments that could be heard from the delighted crowds as they were exiting the cinema after a 5-minute standing ovation for Malagurski and his film team, comprising of cinematographers Milan Lakic and Mladen Jankovic, editor and animator Aleksandar Savic and researcher Igor Topalovic. There was a second screening the same evening after the premiere, also full.

After Belgrade, the film will premiere in Kraljevo on February 5th, in Kragujevac on February 6th, in Niš on February 7th, in Novi Sad on February 8th, in Lazarevac on February 9th, in Čačak on February 13th and in Subotica on February 15th! The film will also be screened in cities across Australia – in Melbourne (Geelong) on February 7th, in Melbourne (Brunswick) on February 8th, in Sydney (Bonnyrigg) on February 14th, in Sydney (Paddington) on February 16th, in Perth on March 1st, in Melbourne (Carrum Downs) on March 6th and in Adelaide on March 15th. The film is also set to have screenings in Podgorica, Montenegro on Feburary 28th and Berane, Montenegro on March 2nd, as well as in Banja Luka, Republika Srpska on March 9th. Following last night’s developing events in Montenegro during which all Serbian MPs were arrested in Montenegro’s parliament, as well as dozens of honorable citizens, following an open revolt in which people charged the streets, rebelled against Milo Djukanovic’s terrorist regime and blocked all of Montenegro’s motorways, I decided not to be a passive onlooker of the monstrous NATO repressive aparatus which has discriminating Montenegro’s Serbs for years by taking away their right to their identity and language, and now trying to steal our Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro, so I decided that my next documentary film will be about Montenegro.

Can you imagine two brothers from the same parents declaring themselves to be of different ethnicities? One is a Serb, the other claims to be Montenegrin. In a country where identity has become a political tool in the hands of one man, who is in power for 30 years, where a language is forged by adding made-up letters and everything material is privatized, now the regime is trying to steal the Serbian people’s spirituality, their monasteries and their historical icons. The media are silent about all this, but we must raise our voice and fight for the truth and justice!

I’d also like to use this opportunity to announce the arrival of our current film “The Weight of Chains 3” in cities across Montenegro, starting from the capital Podgorica on February 28 – all the information will be posted soon on the film’s official website. The long-awaited documentary “The Weight of Chains 3” that toured the globe is finally coming to Serbia! The Serbian premiere will take place at the DOK festival in Kombank Dvorana (former Dom Sindikata) on February 2nd at 7:30 PM. Ticket sales were opened last week and a very small amount of seats are still available, so if you’d like to be the first in Serbia who sees this film, come on down to the Kombank Dvorana ticket office ASAP, or get your tickets online here:

“The Weight of Chains 3” already caused an uproad worldwide, with Albanians in New York protesting against me and my film in October and attempting to sabotage the film premiere in Manhattan. Thanks to the NYPD, their attacks were foiled and one Albanian extremist was arrested. I dedicated the premiere to the NYPD and this only showed that if we fight in a wise and committed way, we will win! The documentary deals with NATO’s bombing of Serbia with depleted uranium, the ecological catastrophe we face to this day and the rotten system that tries to stop the enslaved citizens of Serbia to rise up against the colonial chains and win their freedom, but also presents positive stories of those who fought the system and won. The film inspired audiences across the US, Canada, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Slovenia and is finally arriving home to Serbia! We’re planning on presenting the film in Banja Luka and Podgorica in March, as well as in Scandinavia in May. If you’d like to organize a screening in your city, write to me!

No mainstream media outlet reported on the Serbian premiere due to the nearly absolute media blackout in Serbia on our work, proving that this film is needed now more than ever!
